Kathleen Hassenfratz

Director & President

Kathleen Hassenfratz, LPC (licensed professional counselor) embraced working with youth for 28 years in various roles in public education: middle school teacher, middle school counselor, chemical abuse prevention counselor, ropes course manager, health and social programs coordinator, teen whisperer (and mom of 2!) She is an experienced counselor and psychotherapist who utilizes experiential strategies to guide youth beyond life's barriers into a healthy and productive life! She has a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Texas at Austin and Master of Education in Counseling and Guidance from Southwest Texas State (now Texas State Univ). She also is licensed as a Professional Counselor in the State of Texas (LPC) and specializes in supporting young people struggling with anxiety, depression and self regulation. She has a wonderful husband and 2 kids….(and 2 dogs!), loves experiential education (biking, hiking, paddle boarding) and reading/writing.

Jamie Amelio

Director

Jamie C. Amelio is the founder and CEO of Caring for Cambodia (CFC), a non-profit organization directed toward educating children and training teachers in Siem Reap, Cambodia. While vacationing in Cambodia in 2003, Texas-native Jamie Amelio expected to be wowed by the temples of Angkor Wat. Instead, it was a 9-year-old girl panhandling for a few dollars who would change her life. A few weeks later, Jamie established Caring for Cambodia, which has since grown to support 6,600 students in 21 schools in Siem Reap. Jamie is no stranger to helping children. When living in Los Angeles, she served on the Board of Directors of Vistas for Children, and founded Junior Vistas for Children. In both 2005 and 2010 Jamie was awarded the prestigious Golden Hand Service Award by the Cambodian government, and named as a 2010 Classic Woman of the Year by Traditional Home Magazine. She is also the author of Stumpy the Crocodile, a children’s book about helping neighbors in need. After living in Asia for ten years, Jamie, her husband Bill, and their six children now live in Austin, Texas.

John Kane

Director

John is happy to volunteer at Tune Into Life. John is also the founding Director and President of Camp Eyas, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that hosts nature adventures for military families that are facing breast cancer. John graduated with distinction from the School of Technology at Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Leadership with a Minor in Computer Technology.

Dusty Byrd, LPC

Director of Outreach

Dusty Byrd is an LPC working with private practice since 2012. Dusty also works with the Lake Travis school district as a contract counselor providing behavioral health suggested protocols and resources, and direct counseling for at risk students. In addition, she has years of experience volunteering and working with non-profits in a variety of roles. With a direct connection to Lake Travis youth, she is proud to serve Tune Into Life and hopes to promote awareness, compassionate care, and connection in our community.

Danny Hartmann

Director of Outreach

Danny Hartmann is the Director of Youth Ministries at the Lakeway Church. He grew up in the Lake Travis area, attending Bee Cave Elementary, Lake Travis Middle School, and Lake Travis High School before receiving a degree in mathematics from Texas A&M University. After teaching high school precalculus, he answered a call to ministry and has been serving the Lakeway Church in youth ministry for the past five years. Danny has a passion for serving God in the Lake Travis area and around the world. He enjoys cooking, reading, camping, and spending time with people over a good cup of coffee. He has a wonderful wife, Stephanie, and an amazing daughter, Holly!

Svetlana Kane

Director of Digital Media

Svetlana grew up in Russia and moved to America in 2009. Prior to moving to America, she worked as a marketing executive at one of the largest food producers in Russia. Svetlana graduated with honors from Far Eastern Federal University, where she earned a Master of Science in Marketing and a Master of Arts in Public Relations. She has a loving husband, three boys, and a Jack Russell Terrier.

Heidi Minyen

Secretary

Heidi K. Minyen is a small business owner and entrepreneur with experience in both software services and real estate. She is a principal at Cirayusa Plan which developed a unique and original app along with the Lake Travis ISD to incentivize students to participate in the Leader For Life initiative in the high school. Along with the app she and her team work with the district to help mentor students through volunteer work and community involvement. Heidi has spent 20 years in the Lake Travis community and is actively parenting two teenage sons, Cal and Jack, and is married to her best friend, Reid.

Emilie Larcher

Research & Development

Emilie Larcher holds a Master’s Degree in Anthropology with an specialization in Cross Cultural Human Development from the University of California in Los Angeles. While attending graduate school at UCLA she had the great fortune of taking the year long UCLA Film School Documentary Workshop under Marina Goldskyaja. Emily has several published and delivered papers on the teenage experience based on her field work in the different communities of Belmopan, Belize, Fundamentalist Mormons, Street Children in Nairobi, Kenya, and Latino families in Las Vegas. While studying at UCLA she worked as a research assistant at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute on two different longitudinal studies. Upon graduation Emily worked for Film Maker, Nick Broomfield, on his notorious film Kurt and Courtney. Emily now works as a speech writer/consultant and makes her home in Austin with her husband, Johannes and their three unpredictable teenagers.

Brian Temple, MD

Medical Advisor

Dr. Brian Temple graduated Magna Cum Laude from University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then received his Doctor of Medicine degree from University College Dublin in Ireland. He returned home to the U.S. for his pediatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston and completed his residency and board certification in pediatrics in 2008. Dr. Temple is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for Dell Medical School - The University of Austin and Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics for UTMB Galveston. In 2018, Dr. Temple was voted Austin American Statesman’s Best Pediatrician. Dr. Temple was honored as Physician Humanitarian of the Year by the Travis County Medical Society in recognition for his continued volunteer medical service to underserved communities. Dr. Temple resides with his wife, daughter, and two sons in Lakeway.
